St John The Evangelist

St John The Evangelist Church, Hurst Green, Ribble Valley.

The Church of St. John the Evangelist is a rural Anglican Church which stands on the western side of Hurst Green, a predominantly Catholic village which is situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley.

The church was built on land donated by the Fenton family, of pioneering photography fame in 1838. The church is a Grade II Listed building and the tower features a battlemented parapet.

Since 2014 it has been part of the Diocese of Blackburn, having previously been in the Diocese of Bradford, a result of historic boundary changes.

Despite its position the church is very much at the heart of the village. A high proportion of all the social activity in the village is driven by its parishioners. Many parishioners have a long association with St John’s and draw families in from many places within the Ribble Valley.
