Balderstone

Balderstone Village, Ribble Valley, Lancashire.

Balderstone is a village and civil parish in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire. The centre of the village consists of an Anglican Church, a primary school and a community centre.

To get to Balderstone Village you travel north along the A59 from Preston, opposite BAE Systems turn left down Woods Brow were you come across this farm house shown in the photograph above.

As you travel further down Woods Brow you come across a small dip in the road to a bridge which crosses Wilcock Brook as shown in the photograph above.

At the the end of Woods Brow turn right down Jackson’s Banks Road, and then right again down Commons Lane to the centre of Balderstone Village.

St Leonard’s Church

St Leonard’s Church in the centre of Balderstone Village, is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Whalley, the archdeaconry of Blackburn, and the diocese of Blackburn.

The church is recorded as a designated Grade II listed building and was founded as a chapel of ease to the parish church in Blackburn during the reign of Henry VII in 1504.

St Leonard’s CE Primary and Preschool

Next to St Leonard’s Church on Common Lane is St Leonard’s Church of England Primary School, which caters for about one hundred pupils from the ages of three upwards.
